In brief: what we’ve done
Website audit and drafting technical specifications for internal optimization
We have conducted the website audit and drawn up technical specifications for the internal website optimization.
The major issues we faced were related to page indexing. There were JS inserts present in the article code. Search engine bots only saw content on the pages UP TO this insert. Sometimes, the insert was added at the very beginning of the page, so the bots could not see almost all the content. We fixed this bug.
We also had issues with the website loading speed. We found new duplicate blog pages that have already been indexed. We identified pages with 3xx errors, problems with adding priority URLs to the Sitemap, and other errors.
Developing semantic core of SEO keywords
We did our best to develop, expand, and update the semantic core. We identified missing directions to expand the structure. Moreover, our team created 80+ additional landing pages that could bring relevant traffic.
N.B. When collecting keywords for IT topics, it is important to understand what kind of intent (desire) the user implies in the keyword they enter.
If you search for “front end programming”, the search engine will rank information websites. Despite the apparent relevance, this keyword is googled by those who want to find out about programming, i.e., the specialists, who are unlikely to become leads.
You should consider it when working with the semantic core and drawing up a promotion strategy.
We have drawn up 80+ technical specifications for new commercial pages. Simultaneously, we worked on existing landing pages to optimize them for relevant keywords.
Working on the blog
We analyzed the blog’s potential. We realized that it is exactly the blog in this topical field could become a good source of targeted traffic.
We analyzed and refined the existing articles. We also drafted recommendations for improving the blog and updating old articles. Besides, we created a table of redirects to eliminate duplicates.
Moreover, we drafted a roadmap for further blog development, the selection of traffic topics, and the placement of new articles.
N.B. When collecting semantics for an IT-related blog, it is crucial to understand intents and conversions. For instance, you can write an article titles ‘Search Results UI/UX Best Practices’ to have 19 conversions from the traffic of 1600. Alternatively, you can write an ‘Is Node.js Still Relevant For Your Startup in 2021?” article and get 54 conversions with the same traffic.
Analysis of the competitors’ link profile and monthly link building
We analyzed the link profile of competitors and drew up a link promotion strategy. Basically, we decided to focus on outreach to select the highest-quality relevant websites. And at the same time, we connected crowd marketing.
We placed links on high-priority commercial pages and traffic blog articles.
An important note regarding the outreach: we carried out a thorough analysis of organic traffic on the donor website (its type, a region the users come from, pages with the most traffic, etc.) With this approach, you can choose high-quality relevant sites that will be most beneficial for the project.
Results over 6 months: 240 more keywords hit the TOP10, including high search volume keywords.
Number of keywords in TOP-10
The unpaid traffic grew by 186% in 6 months.
Thanks to the experience in this niche and the well-coordinated work of the team, the Client received + 55% of sessions from organic traffic in just 2 months.
And six months later, free traffic grew by 186% and it keeps growing. Now, there are +242 keys in the TOP-10, including high search volume keywords.
Most importantly, we aimed at increasing not only traffic but MQL/SQLs. We work on the quantity and the quality of the traffic so that more and more users convert into leads and generate income for the client.
