In brief: what we have done
Moved the site to WordPress
The client intended to move the site to another CMS, namely from Tilda to WordPress. The technical requirements included primary technical optimization so that the new site had no internal optimization issues from the very beginning. We offered our recommendations for moving the site to a new CMS not to miss important points; we checked and tested the release before rolling it out to the main domain.
Additionally, the technical requirements for redirects was compiled to preserve the link weight of the old URLs.
Keywords research and semantic core development
We developed the Semanic Core (SC) to expand and update it. It turned out that there are no landing pages for certain relevant keywords. Therefore, we decided to expand the structure, as well as to enhance the existing pages.
Here’s what was important. When collecting semantics for an IT topic, it is crucial to understand the user’s intent (desire) behind the search query.
For example, when someone googles ‘unreal engine’, the result will be website and network profiles of Unreal Engine company. Despite the seeming relevance, this key is googled mainly by those who want to read about the engine or even download it.
Nevertheless, suppose the keyword is ‘Unreal development company.’ In that case, the search engine will rank companies, whereas the real user’s intent is to order a service for developing a game on the Unreal engine.
On-page optimization of landing pages
We’ve drawn up briefs for new commercial pages. Meanwhile, our team worked on the already existing landing pages in order to optimize them for relevant keywords.
Working on the blog
We’ve analyzed the blog’s potential. The main insight was that for these subjects the blog can become the main source of targeted traffic.
Thus, our team designed technical requirements for technical refinements and improvements to the blog. The current articles have been analyzed and improved. Also, we’ve drawn up a blog development roadmap with the selection of traffic-generating topics and the publication plan for the new articles.
Important! When collecting keywords for a blog topic, it is important to understand intents and conversions. For example, you can write an article ‘Top 7 quality metrics’ to get 3k traffic per month and 0 conversions. Alternatively, you can write an article ‘How to estimate software development cost’ and get 2k conversions with 2k traffic. Or you can discuss ‘The best country to outsource’ and get 1k traffics with 3 conversions.
Analysis of the competitors’ link profile and monthly link building
Our team analyzed the link profile of competitors and designed a link promotion strategy has been drawn up. Basically, we decided to focus on outreach in order to select the highest-quality relevant sites. Links were placed on high-priority commercial pages, as well as on the blog traffic articles.
An important point in outreach: a thorough analysis of organic traffic on the donor site (type of organic traffic, geography of users, which pages the traffic goes to, etc.). With this approach, you can choose high-quality relevant sites that will bring maximum benefit to the project.
Results after 6 months
The TOP-10 includes 60% of keywords, including high search volume keywords.
Number of keys in TOP-10 – 1.
Unpaid traffic grew by 769% in 6 months
Thanks to the well-coordinated work of the team and the promptness of the client’s work on technical requirements, in a month after the start, the site started showing positive dynamics.
Also, a properly thought out and implemented activities with the blog influenced the positive growth of traffic.
In just 6 months, we got a steady growth in traffic. The number of visitors increased from 1019 to 8413 (by 769%). 300+ keys from the semantic core are already in the TOP-10, including high search volume keywords.
We want to point out that we’ve brought not merely traffic, but traffic that generates leads.
Noteworthy: this month brought us a lot of relevant leads, among them some of the well-known names, such as Zynga, and DC Universal. DC Universal is famous for its universe with Batman, Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad, etc. It is true that it takes several month to close such a client. For example, one lead went into the development of a game back in November (a kind of a game that take a year to develop, with a six-figures budget), and the deal is soon to be closed.
